FYCA is announcing a call for “Youth exploring participation” training course

We invite all participants to take part in 2 training courses and a campaign: check below for more details.

Description of the project: The training course will bring together 32 young people - youth workers and active volunteers from various environmental youth organisations (mainly YEE member organisations). During the training course we will dive deep into the topic of youth participation, empowerment and public participation as a tool to promote citizens’ engagement in environmental governance and policymaking processes.

The participants will explore and learn more about the following topics:

  • Public participation

  • Youth participation: why it is important to involve young people and how it might affect

  • their lives

  • Theory of participation: Hart’s participation ladder, different aspects of participation (political, civic, action research)

  • Examples of successful youth participation from various countries

  • How NGOs can influence and promote youth participation

  • Tools for engaging young people and concrete knowledge and skills for future projects.

  • The aim of the training course is to explore and establish the role of environmental youth organisations in fostering youth participation.

  • Share your experience of involving young people in environmental projects.

  • Get concrete tools for encouraging youth participation.

  • Have understanding of the role of environmental youth organisations in encouraging youth participation.

  • Meet other passionate young environmentalists and youth workers.

  • Take part in the long-term project and second training course in July about environmental decision-making.

Profile of the participants:

  • 18-30 years old

  • Fluent English

  • Actively involved in environmental youth organisations (as youth workers or volunteers).

  • Familiar with the work of your organisation and have previous experience of organising local projects (and taking part in or organising international activities).

  • Familiar with the profile of young people from your local communities.

  • Interested in the topic of youth participation and encouraging active citizenship.

  • Will be able to share the knowledge from the training course with your sending organisation.
